"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD.
Because of this verse, people think it's not possible to figure out God, but they fail to see the context of that verse, which shows us that the Lord is speaking about the wicked man. We can see this clearly by what verse 7 says.
Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
However, the Christian is a new creation. We have the mind of Christ, who is God.
For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct him. But we have the mind of Christ. - 1Corinthians 2:16
Yes!
ReplyDeleteI used to not understand why the Lord would say in Jeremiah 17:9.
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
And in Psalms 37:4 also say
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
If the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked why would the Lord give us those desires?!
Because the old man, not believing or knowing Christ's heart is wicked and deceitful. But those who know Christ and have received Him as their Lord and Savior have become a new creation, and receive the mind of Christ, with His desires which he wants fulfilled!
Also the next verse in Jeremiah 17:10 is
"I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."
It is important to take verses in context, because if you see a verse, with no context, you may have just been conned! :)
