God often includes in the context of scripture His reason for blessing people. Some people think God doesn't need any reason to bless us other than the fact that He loves us and I do believe that's true. However, when we show the Lord faith through our behavior, He makes it clear to mankind that His stamp of approval is on right behavior. Jabez is a good example of this. The scripture gives clear reason as to why Jabez was blessed with such an awesome blessing. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.
1Chronicles 4:9-10 show us this truth.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. - 1Chronicles 4:9-10.
